Preparing Students for Success in High School, College and Beyond

One of the highlights of the 5 & 6 classroom is the opportunity to take a overnight trip to Springfield, our state's capital, or to Walcamp, a Lutheran-operated campground, to experience outdoor education. These trips overlap every other year, giving the students the opportunity to enjoy both travel experiences.

In order to participate in these trips, students must be in good standing both with regards to behavior and academics. Parent chaperones are needed and parents are urged to speak to the teacher early should they wish to volunteer for this duty.

Students will need a permission form to attend and there is an extra fee. Students that do not attend the field trips must remain at home and are counted as absent. Grace strongly encourages every student to attend our field trips!

With the generous support from Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation, Grace Christian Academy  is able to send our 5 th and 6 th grade students to Walcamp.  Walcamp is an outdoor education facility that teaches our students about God through hands-on activities in His wonderful world of nature.  Through various activities our students develop skills and habits that strengthen them physically, mentally and spiritually.  The students leave Walcamp with a greater appreciation for the complexity of nature and a better understanding of our place in God’s world.
